Friday night

I’m taking a moment on a blustery Friday night here in Washington to say hello to my old friend, my blog. Hello!

So, the latest. I’ve submitted my story for a contest today. I was reminded by a fellow writer about today’s deadline and so I submitted it just hours ago!

It’s a bit crazy, but I felt the story, if not myself deserved it. I like my story and I suspect others could like it and if an agent could read it, then maybe they would see the promise in it.

I’ve been busy setting up a tutoring business and so I’ve not written much and just nearly missed this contest.

Anyway, that’s it. On other news which isn’t as good is I’m also busy getting ready to move. My husband and I have loved the house we’re in and the owners have decided to sell it. So, we must leave to find other roads to stomp on…but, some things remain the same and for that, I’m grateful.

Eastside garden hike

My friend and I enjoyed a morning nature walk at the Bellevue Botanic gardens. We saw a variety of “Seussical” flowers in the garden and if you peek at my other blog, you’ll see a featured flower, but I was a bit peeved when my iPhone alerted me that I’d run out of room to take more pics, sigh, one day, I will fix my “real” camera.

The Botanic Gardens were beautiful and well cared for as was the walking trail that surrounded it. We did an easy, leisurely hike and at the advice of a small child, peered into a couple of gnome habitats.

At the gift shop, we found unique children’s books and jewelry and lots of nature inspired knick-knacks, soap and other stuff and a nice manager that gave us some ideas for tomorrows outing. (stay tuned!)

The hike was highlighted by shade and the songs of birds and the soothing sounds of a mini-waterfall. We sat and chatted and rested in the green nature.

A very lovely day indeed.

First post

Hi!,

I’m writing today’s first post hoping to learn more about all WordPress has to offer a blogger without the blog changing up too much throughout it’s life cycle.

Today, marks the first day of me shedding my teacher career and putting on the garb of a writer, and in my case, it just happens to be whatever I choose to wear and my laptop! I know becoming a writer is more than just looking forward to working in PJ’s, but for now, until I see my bank account get filled, that is the tangible highlight.

And ugh, I don’t want to become that writer who only writes about writing. I have a life! But, it’s the “being open” that’s a bit difficult. But, practice, practice…

So, for the purpose of this not too personal blog, I will share that I’m committed to learning. Learning new things about writing, about the relationship that I’m in and about growing into a more emotionally mature person which I believe begins with learning to laugh at myself a little more and to be bold enough to be proud of the good choices I make daily, especially those choices that require me to be bold, kind and empathic.
